Setting Up Your First Coached Meeting

Getting from download to your first coached meeting takes about 5 minutes. Here's the walkthrough.

Step 1: Download and install

Download Sussur for macOS. Open the .dmg file and drag Sussur to your Applications folder. Launch it from Spotlight or your Applications folder.

Sussur requires macOS 13 (Ventura) or later, running on Apple Silicon (M1 or newer).

Step 2: Grant permissions

Sussur needs two macOS permissions to work:

Microphone access lets Sussur hear the meeting audio. Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone and enable Sussur.

Screen recording access lets Sussur capture system audio from your meeting app (Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, etc.). Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen Recording and enable Sussur.

Both permissions are required. Without microphone access, Sussur can't hear the conversation. Without screen recording, it can't capture the other participants' audio from the meeting app.

Step 3: Add your AI key

Sussur uses an AI model to write the coaching, and it runs that on your key rather than ours. Paste an OpenRouter API key into Settings and pick a model — or point Sussur at Ollama running on the same Mac if you'd rather nothing left the machine. The key lives in your Keychain; we never see it, and you pay the provider directly for what you use.

Step 4: Connect your calendar

Optionally, connect your Google Calendar so Sussur shows your upcoming meetings on the home screen. This also enables pre-call briefing. Sussur reviews your contact history and prepares coaching context before the meeting starts.

Go to Settings > Calendar and authorise Sussur in your browser.

Step 5: Join a meeting

That's it. Join any meeting on Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, or any other video call app. Sussur automatically detects the active meeting and starts coaching.

You'll see a discreet overlay with coaching suggestions. The suggestions adapt to the conversation phase and your contact's history. After the call, Sussur generates a debrief report with action items and a follow-up draft.

Your first meeting with Sussur coaching will feel different. Not because of any single suggestion, but because you'll feel more prepared, more intentional, and more aware of the conversation dynamics.
