No coaching is showing up
The session is running and the transcript works, but no coaching cards appear.

- Symptom
- A session is running and you can see the transcript, but no coaching cards ever appear.
- Cause
- Usually a missing or invalid AI key, coaching turned off, or the quality filter set so high that everything is suppressed.
- Fix
- Confirm your AI provider is connected, coaching is enabled, and the suggestion threshold isn't filtering everything out.
If the transcript is filling in but no coaching appears, the listening half is working and the AI half isn't.
Work through these in order
- Check your AI connection. In Settings → API Key, use Test connection. If you're on OpenRouter, confirm the key is valid and your account has credit. If you're on Ollama, confirm it's running (
ollama serve) and the model is pulled. - Confirm coaching is on. Make sure live coaching isn't disabled in Settings.
- Lower the quality filter. Sussur suppresses low-confidence suggestions. If you've raised the threshold, lower it so more cards come through.
- Give it a moment. Coaching is triggered by what's said. Early in a quiet call there may simply be nothing worth surfacing yet.
Fixed when coaching cards begin appearing in the overlay as the conversation develops.
Coaching status meanings
If Sussur shows a coaching status, here's what it means:
- Paused — a temporary rate limit; it resumes on its own.
- Offline — the AI provider returned an error; Sussur retries automatically.
- Stopped — an authentication failure. Update your API key in Settings.
