Sussur is distributed as a standard macOS .dmg. It is signed and notarized by Apple, so installation is the normal drag-to-Applications flow.
Install
- Download the latest release. Go to the download page and get the
.dmg. - Open the disk image. Double-click the downloaded
Sussur-*.dmg. - Drag Sussur to Applications. Drop the Sussur icon onto the Applications folder shortcut in the window.
- Launch it. Open Sussur from Launchpad or Spotlight (⌘-Space, type "Sussur").
You'll know it worked when Sussur opens to its welcome screen and starts the short setup wizard.
If macOS blocks the first launch
The first time you open a newly downloaded app, macOS may show a security prompt. This is expected, not a sign anything is wrong.
- "Sussur cannot be opened because Apple cannot check it…" — Right-click (or Control-click) the Sussur icon in Applications and choose Open, then confirm. You only do this once.
- "Sussur is damaged and can't be opened" — This usually means the download was interrupted. Delete the file and download it again from the download page.
Note
Still stuck on first launch? See Troubleshooting → Sussur won't open for the full recovery steps, including the System Settings → Privacy & Security path.
